I think it is s-l-o-w-l-y occuring to me that I am actually doing this! I have been ridiculously busy trying to get things in order before I leave. I'm having a yard sale this weekend fo raise more money for the trip. It is quite expensive to pay for flights, mission fees, and live in Russia for about 2 months! I have great friends, family, and even students who have donated items to the yard sale. It's amazing the outpouring of love I've felt recently at the amount of folks that are supporting and praying for me as I go on this journey. It means a lot to me that so many have faith in me. I know it seems exotic to go somewhere like Russia for a summer, but I'm staying focused on the real reason - to serve others and tell them about God. And what an amazing thing that is! It is pressed on my heart to witness in this way. But we are called to witness in ANY way! Everyone has their own methods. For some, it can be teaching a Sunday School class (Amy & Renee) or leading a choir (Kurt... haha) or throwing 'goodbye' parties (Betsy & Jessica), supporting friends when in need, writing cards or letters to those who are having problems, being kind to a stranger, saying hello to someone who is having a bad day, picking up trash so a custodian doesn't have to do it, talking to a co-worker to learn more about each other, donating to a family in need, picking up an elderly man who has been waiting in the 100 degree heat for the bus that hasn't come, baking a cake for a family, or just calling someone and saying, "I'm thinking about you and I love you". What a WONDERFUL world it would be if everyone did at least ONE of these things a day! These are ways that we can show God's love without having to jump on a plane. I hope tomorrow, that you pick something and do it! You never know the impact you will have on someone. That person may not know God, but they know YOU know God - and that makes us different. Think about it......
